Yeah, maybe they haven't done it yet but I am sure everyone by now knows its an elite mission. And if there isn't a outpost that lets you go straight to Kanaxai or one that lets you go straight to Urgoz why would there be one that lets you go straight to Mallyx?

So...you have a speedometer that shows 140 mph, you decide to drive 140 mph...then get a ticket and say it's the car manufacturer's fault for putting in a speedometer that shows 140 mph and an engine that can allow you to do so and/or the gov't for not displaying a speed limit sign??? Bottom line is, they knew it was wrong, they chose to do it anyway (whether once or repeatedly) and now gripe about the punishment dealt and/or try to seek sympathy from others...

If you speed, you take the chance of getting caught. Same logic applies to using an exploit, hacking into the client, etc.

How many people got banned for using the free Zaishen chest "exploit?"

How many people got banned for getting a free ferry to the end of the game?

How many people got banned for getting a ferry to the deep, to urgoz or to slavers exile?

How many people got banned for /resigning in the Warrior Guild hall to be transported ANYWHERE in the game?

How many people got banned for using fort aspenwood, dragging all the necro npcs to the the base.. owning the other team?

How many people got banned for ferrying people from Kamadan to Consulate docks?

How many people have been banned in ab for dying at a gate and using necro transversal to go through it before the timer starts?

How many people have been banned for taking heros into AB and holding 64v64 matches?

How many people have been banned using the Warrior Guild hall trick to ferry people from Kamadan to LA without taking a quest?

How many people got banned for finding a bugged area while mapping and saw the "end of the world" effect?

How many people have been banned for vanquishing Bukdek Byway.. taking 2 quests.. and having to kill 1 enemy to vanquish?

How many people have used TexMod, a third party program, to obtain their cartographer title?

How many people have been banned for using Ventrilo, a third party program not supported by Anet?

When you question about how I know about all this, its simple. When you play the game for 30 months you find out about all these "exploits."

To say that ferrying to Mallyx is any different from the above is preposterous. Those guilty of any above are in the same position as this "exploit."

My question is.. where are these individual bans?

I really dont believe people think that 117 people came together and hacked the game made the economy worse in the game cause ive done it with regular usan groups got probably the same or more money then this stupid exploit that Anet was so stupid to leave in the game Ive seen people spam need r10 ursan for mallyx and they map you too their guild hall and map you to the town I have a few friends that are very good at playing got mapped there did it once because they wanted it in their hall of monuments. and now their banned. They better sort this out and figure out the true people that hacked this game instead of being lazy inconsiderate and just massively ban anyone who may have been in this town. for all they know its another invisable town just like the Deep that can be saved and mapped back too at any time. that was in an update. Seriously people I bet one out of 1000 people read the forums that play all the time because I certainly dont I just play the game and have fun. And if Anet needs to ban people why not the bots because they make more money off this game and exploit it for a living. These are the people that should be banned. They better sort through the Support messages and Check them appropriatly. Because before long the people that were friends of the innocent that were banned that actually farm are going to quit and before long the game will not have a PVE side.

I Agree, it's not their fault. They just knew that they were going to an outpost that 99.9% of the guildwars population didnt know about, skipped the 4 huge quests that are needed to get to mallyx, then kill the monkey in a few minutes , and then just repeat. /sarcasm

There was OBVIOUSLY something fishy going on there, they should have known to not to screw around with it.

Well... they did hacked the game, wich wasnt really smart in the first place.

But also, i dont blame them intirely for this.

In my opinion, these extreme and long areas like DoA and Urgoz, arent really fun at all. You will get sick AND tired of these places in a month or so.
What do you have to consider here:
The time you take to create a group.
The time you take to beat one quest.
The time you take to get a group for all quests.
The time you take to find someone who wants to do the same quest as you do.
The time you take to make a group to mallyx
The time you take to find THAT specific profession.

It just takes a lot of time, time you could be doing something else, having fun, getting gold, feeling compensated.
No wonder people wanted to find a shortcut, and skip all these steps mentioned early.

This might sound just a case of hacking, but if you figure out why they did it, you will find a much deeper problem.

Now the question is: if this outpost was used for testing, only some devs could know about it, so how come a player found out about it and developed a hack to acess it?

edit: after reading some...
I would surely use this exploit to get the HoM statue for my mesmer... does any player here really thinks i will EVER find a group at DoA with my mesmer? Do you think i will ever find groups for every quest? Do you think i will ever find a group for Mallyx? Seriously...
So YES... I WOULD USE THIS... but its not my fault! I didnt created a ridiculously hard area that only allows nukers, tanks and monks...
So when you ever create a end-game area that can be played by the 10 professions, we can talk again.
In the meantime, get used to the exploits and hacks, because they are a consequence!

Ok, lets make this clear. Anet had to do something.

So they banned all the guys who actually hacked the game.

Fair here, no one is complaning about that.

Now there were a bunch of people who didnt hacked the game but they were exploiting it anyway.

I guess anet chosed to ban everone who was actually farming and condone the people who just do it once.

I dont see anything wrong with it,

The had to make sure the thing didnt go unpunished.

It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong.

- Voltaire

they left a breach.. all this problem could never have happened if they closed the outpost after practice/test/check ect

according the Guild Wars Rules of Conduct point 8 says

'You may not market, promote, advertise, or solicit within the Guild Wars game or on the official Guild Wars websites.'

that means nobody can sell their items weapons ect. at kamadan or any other outpost without risking a ban?

If that statement was true, I wouldn't have an err45. No hacking is involved. Its a simple ferry from the guild hall to a town. No different then what I said in my above post.

Here's a recap: There was an outpost in the game that you could not reach by normal means. The only way to get there was through the use of a third party program. This is against the EULA because it's classified as "hacking" and is basically a rule-of-thumb for online games unless they list exceptions.

So in order to get to this area with a lot of people, the party leader would have to have a third-party program while playing Guild Wars - in other words, he is hacking.

The only way to go back to that outpost is A. if you're a hacker or B. Ask the hacker to take you back. The outpost is not "unlocked." You can't go back there by pressing M and clicking on the outpost without hacking.

~~~
Now, if you're not a hacker and you're taken to this outpost you've never heard of before, there should be some BIG glaring signs that you shouldn't be there. For one, it's unpopulated. Two, if you're in DoA then you've probably been playing for awhile and should know most of the game by now. If you continue to play anyway, then you're not really thinking.
The only "innocent" people I can think of are people who had no idea where they were being taken to and either went back to a different outpost or didn't go out and kill anything, or didn't get very far. If you went ahead and killed Mallyx, then you should be banned.
Here is my final statement because you all have bored me to death...
I still think ANet has full responsablity for this happening. They left this "secret outpost" open that could be opened no matter what. Exploit, hack, third party program - name it whatver. It still happened. Lots of innocent people were banned because they were too lazy to do a simple "delete outpost" procedure. Those innocent people might of been like me, someone that just thought this was new-content or content that most people didn't know about (like the Serenity Temple or Dragon's Gault in Ascalon)
They have left many other exploits/hacks slide by, and they are still happening today. Why does this one make any big difference?
Overall, if you have a problem with what my opinion is... flood my Private Message inbox. I'll be happy to respond to your fan mail.
The difference is this outpost was hacked by a third party program, everything you mentioned wasn't.
